How a 500-character entry actually reads

Three real works, written to the regulation as if they were entered today. The summary limit is 500 characters including spaces — roughly 75–85 English words, or four to five sentences.

What we learned writing these: every one of the three came in at 530–545 characters on the first pass and had to be cut. 500 is tight but not cruel — it forces one claim per work instead of a feature list. For Japanese text the same limit is far more generous (500 Japanese characters ≈ 3× the content), so a single number treats the two languages very differently.

The Sun of Annecy — AI Documentary film

Akihiko SHIRAI, Ph.D. · AICU Inc.
16:9 cover art
1920×1080

A documentary shot at Annecy, the festival where animation decides what it becomes next. We followed creators who arrived with generative AI in their toolkit and met an industry still arguing about it — in cafes, in queues, on the lake. No staged interviews: the film lets the argument happen. Made by a small team, with every AI-assisted shot logged and disclosed. It asks the only question worth asking in Annecy: who gets to make the next hundred years of animation?

AICU Magazine

AICU media編集部 · AICU Inc. / AICU Japan K.K.
16:9 cover art
1920×1080

A monthly magazine for people who make things with generative AI — 150+ full-colour pages, 28 issues since 2022. Each issue pairs hands-on technique with the culture forming around it: workflows you can run tonight, interviews with creators mid-project, contest results, and the ethics arguments as they happen. Written by a working editorial team, not aggregated. The point is not that AI made it, but that a community sustained a monthly rhythm through the fastest years this medium has had.

Creating and Moving Characters — A Start Guide to Image and Video Generative AI

【キャラクターを創り動かす】画像・動画生成AI スタートガイド

AICUmedia編集部 / 白井暁彦 · SBクリエイティブ(発行)/ AICU Inc.(制作)
16:9 cover art
1920×1080

A start guide that takes one character from a first sketch to a moving, shipped piece of work. Rather than cataloguing tools, it follows a single production line — design the character, keep the face consistent across shots, give it a voice, animate it, publish — so a beginner finishes the book holding something they can show. By the AICU media editorial team with illustrator Zasuko. SB Creative, 19 September 2026. The entry link is the free sample chapter.
