372 works across 10 fields

Open entries for the International AI Creator Award — AICU Award 2026 for short — have finally closed with Round 3. How many came in?

As of 28 October, the early count is 372 works from 202 creators. The first entry arrived on 20 September, so all of these works came in over roughly 30 days. Open entries are now closed; from here on, we will be adding works recommended by our partner organizations.

Thank you so much for entering in such a short window!

Here is how they break down by field.
- Independent Film: 99 works
- Music, MV & Dance: 68 works
- Character, Manga & Webtoon: 60 works
- Game, Tool & App: 36 works
- Publishing: 29 works
- Advertising, PV & Broadcast: 28 works
- Open: 20 works
- Commercial Film: 12 works
- Service: 10 works
- Event / XR: 10 works

I can sort of see why film is the biggest.

Video-generation AI became part of everyday life almost overnight this past year. AICU Magazine Vol.20, "This Is the Year to Start AI Video" (January 2026), is on our timeline — and 2026 really has turned into a year when AI video is blooming everywhere. Even so, Music & MV and Character & Manga each passed 60 works, so this is far from a film-only award.

Thank you all for entering! And some people entered lots of works on their own!

Yes. Some entered a series across different fields; others entered a song and its music video separately. That is entirely within the regulations — in fact, we think it is exactly how creators of the generative-AI era deserve to be evaluated, through rigorous judging.
Leaving aside entries made by partner organizations and the Award office, the creator with the most entries is CHIHIRO, with 10 works. All ten have been accepted, and they span five fields.
- CHIHIRO: 10 works, 5 fields
- 進藤孝純 (Takasumi Shindo): 8 works, 3 fields
- あやばぶ (Aya): 7 works, 2 fields
- Takeshi Komakine: 6 works, 1 field
- 이창우 (Changwoo Lee): 6 works, 5 fields
- 光拳 (Kouken): 6 works, 2 fields
- Adrien Bodson (AI STUDIOS): 6 works, 4 fields
- 吉原 通克 (Michikatsu Yoshihara): 5 works, 2 fields
- ぱち子 (Pachiko): 5 works, 2 fields
- BLUE: 5 works, 1 field

CHIHIRO is a visual creator who has been active in AICU contests for years! As the earlier Mado no Mori article also mentioned, the artistic, distinctly AI-native designs, the time-lapse explainer videos of all kinds of creatures in "Fantasy Creature Encyclopedia" — the volume, quality and range of the work are remarkable. From Canada, there are Adrien Bodson's short films, and from Korea, Changwoo Lee is a creator to watch! Changwoo Lee works across everything from novels to games.

The game "DISCOVERY X CARD" even comes properly translated into Japanese! Everyone, go and give it a try!
From 21 countries and regions

Lots of entries came from other countries, too!

Recommended works from our partner organizations are still being counted, but so far entries have come from 21 countries and regions. Japan has the most, followed by Korea, then Canada, the United States, Hong Kong, China, Australia and Brazil.

So there are a lot of entries from Korea.

I think our partnership with GAMFF, an international AI and metaverse film festival held in Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea, played a part. GAMFF sets out to discover new forms of visual expression and storytelling made with AI, and to connect creators with the content industry. Its 2026 edition drew 3,403 works from 97 countries, with total prize money of about ¥11.5 million and a grand prize of about ¥2.3 million. GAMFF is also exhibiting at Inter BEE 2026, where the AICU Award holds its ceremony! Thank you for such fine recommended works!
Our partner AI Film Festival Japan 2026 (AIFJ) has also put forward works from overseas through its recommendation slots.
Work titles and synopses are automatically translated into seven languages in the gallery, so please feel free to explore works from other countries. Comments carry a "Translated" label too, and you can always read the original and the whole discussion.

Independent Film: the 10 works with the strongest response

Let's introduce around ten works from Independent Film, the largest field!

These ten are in order of the "score" on the public live board. The score is calculated from the number of people who sent emo, comments, and plays and views in the gallery. The algorithm has been balanced, and we think it does a good job of surfacing the works people are excited about right now.

Here's the important part: this is NOT about mashing emo, and it's NOT the vote ranking!

Right. Abusing emo is penalized, with a cool-down period. And even thousands of emo are counted on a logarithmic scale. So please send your emo freely, however you feel. The comments are lively too — enough that people are asking for a proper discussion feature! It's wonderful to see conversations crossing languages.

Each work's page has a synopsis in the creator's own words. Rather than us paraphrasing it here, we think it's best to read it there.

So the vote counts aren't made public during the voting period. That means these ten works haven't been chosen as finalists — they're simply the works that drew the most response in the gallery!

I'd love for you to start by playing them one at a time. When something clicks, send an emo and write a comment! That emo also puts the work on your ballot as a candidate!
YouTube works: 21 hours 35 minutes in total

As for statistics on the YouTube works, there are currently 172 videos, 21 hours 35 minutes in total. The shortest are A26V-47 "Who?" (13 seconds), A26E-2 "3D Photo Studio" (16 seconds) and A26B-5 "MINA × GIRI" (16 seconds).

The longest are A26C-50 "Yumemi Nana" (7 hours 32 minutes), A26V-44 "Giving Images to a Thousand-Year-Old Song" (1 hour 2 minutes) and A26C-12 "Otobe Hisui AI Live" (1 hour 1 minute).

A26C-50 alone accounts for about a third of the total — a proud title-holder for longest work. Even without it, the remaining 171 videos add up to about 14 hours.

Nao was just saying, "I feel like we could make something with this playlist…"

A watch party! Let's do it!!
The other nine fields are coming

What about works in the other fields?

On the live board, you can see the rankings for all ten fields. It switches to the next field every 10 seconds.

We'll introduce ten works from each field in turn, too. Stay tuned!
Share the works, and tell us what you think

If I find a work I like, what should I do?

Please share it! From the "Share" button on the work's page you can post straight to X and elsewhere. Work-page URLs are short, so you can paste them as they are.

And what we really want to hear is your evaluation! "In this field, this is the one I love," "this part was great" — that kind of thing. For each of the ten fields, or for the Award as a whole, either is fine!

You can write comments on a work right on its page. For thoughts about the Award as a whole, please post on X with #AICUAward. It gives the creators — and us at the Award office — something to build on next.
Voting is open until 15 November
In the public vote, you choose the one work you think is best in each of the ten fields. Anyone can take part, free of charge, by signing in with an AICU account. The deadline is 15 November (AoE). This vote decides 3 to 10 finalists in each field. The awards ceremony is on 20 November at Makuhari Messe.

Out of 372 works, let's go find ten works — one for each field — that make us say, "That could open a door!"
